Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, The Final Chapter...

Without Warning...

We had barely gotten the entire group through the floor entrance when a sudden blood curdling scream erupted from the deepest bowels of the fourth floor's western most ward. The sound ricocheted off the walls and pierced our flesh like a thousand tiny arrows launched from the darkness; overwhelmed with fear the group scattered like cockroaches under a sudden burst of light ... just kidding.

The Final Floor...

By the time we had reached the fourth floor the number of people in our group had dwindled from 22 to 15. Three of those had left during the third floor investigation, claiming to be tired; the other four had gone to the assembly area when one of them required medical attention. I wish I could tell you the young woman had been savagely attacked by an enraged spirit, or bitten by a rabid bat, but apparently she had suffered an asthma attack and just needed a break.

The fourth floor was laid out virtually the same as the second with the center main wide open to both the east and west wings. Unlike the second floor this area was very brightly lit which spilled out on each side penetrating deep into the corridors making the immediate east, and west wings much less palatable from an investigation standpoint. There were also more furnishings scattered about in this area to which a number of the Trans-Allegheny guides had staked out their claim to and lounged about chatting with each other, and some of the group.

Our celebrity guide on this floor was Dave Tango. Following suite with his predecessors, Steve and Amy from the previous floors, Dave laid out the back story of the fourth floor. He must have drawn the short straw this evening because this floor was very unremarkable in it’s history. There were no horrific stories of murder, or mayhem attached to this floor, and no extraordinary, or highly unusual claims of paranormal activity. Expectations continued to decline when it became apparent nothing much to speak of had happened so far this evening either.

Throughout most of the institutions life this floor had been used as living quarters for staff. Currently it was the primary floor targeted for renovation, hence the reason for the additional furniture, and bright lights. The only noticeable difference in the structure of the fourth floor, compared to the previous, was that the western most ward, Ward T, had a wooden floor. In this area, we were told, you could sometimes hear footsteps on those wooden floors when no one else was present.

The Investigation Continues…

It was after midnight now, and Tabitha and I were well into our fourth hour of investigation. Having arrived at the site at 5pm that afternoon meant we had been there for more than seven hours in total. We were getting tired. After having walked for what seemed like miles on the hard concrete and stone floors we decided to find a room, or two, we could settle into, take a seat, and do some extended EVP, and flashlight sessions. Since Ward T appeared to be the best shot at experiencing anything we, along with most everyone else, headed in that direction.

We had fallen behind the group just a little when we stopped to speak with one of the guides about the bats. They were extremely active on this floor, and one in particular seemed to of taken a liking to me, which prompted a brief discussion. Being the last to enter into Ward T it was difficult to disguise our entrance as the floor creaked and moaned with every step as if in excruciating pain under our weight. We quickly and carefully tried to make our way to a room and hunker down for a bit, but it was immediately evident there was no way to quietly traverse these floors. Seeing the third room to our left was unoccupied we darted in and positioned our self against the far wall. It didn't take long to realize that this area was far too contaminated with people to create an environment ripe for investigation. Between the painful groan of the floors as people moved about the ward, and the persistent murmur of other investigators echoing through the corridor any EVPs we may have been lucky to capture would have been drowned out by the cacophony of sounds and therefore unsubstantiatable.

Having made the decision to leave we hastily retreated from Ward T and entered the quiet of Ward V, passed through the center main, then Ward S, and eventually made our way to the furthest east ward, Ward R. Being practically alone in this area we walked to the end of the corridor and picked a larger room in the back right corner to investigate. This room, being on the backside of the building, was noticeably darker than those on the front which still absorbed the light of the waning moon. Contributing to the darkness, and visible through two large sunken windows on the back wall, was a huge wooded hill behind the facility which imposingly overshadowed the building. We decided this room was perfect.

The Clang

Each of windows had a recessed sill very suitable as a seat; one for Tabitha, and one for me. The windows were about twelve feet apart and each was equally spaced a few feet from their nearest wall. I set the camcorder up, started the digital recorder, and placed the flashlight on the floor. After a brief demonstration for any spirits among us as to how to manipulate the flashlight, and the ways they could communicate with us, I took my place on the window sill nearest the outside end wall of the building. To my right Tabitha was taking her seat on the window sill at the inside wall as I was asking the question; “If there is anyone here with us…” when suddenly a loud clanging sound erupted from the wall beside Tabitha. She sprung from the sill as if shot from a cannon uttering a sound I could only describe as a suppressed muffled scream, and was at my left side, back pressed against the wall before the sound had completely dissipated in the room. Obviously shaken, I asked if she had bumped something to which Tabitha adamantly replied “no!” I said, “Alright”, and followed that up with an “it’s okay”, immediately after which I was informed by Tabitha, “No, it’s not!” A response to which I had to chuckle … just a little.

When we originally entered the room I had noticed a wall mounted heating and air unit on the inside dividing wall. It was fed by a single pipe that ran along the length of the back wall under the windows about a foot off the floor and around the corner into the unit. When I heard the sound I knew immediately it had come from contact with that pipe reverberating into the wall unit. What I didn’t know for sure was if Tabitha had caused it. Since she hadn’t seen it she had no way of connecting the two, so I continued on asking if someone, or something had made that sound could they do it again. After several more requests without a response we decided to move on. Once all the equipment was off I shined the light in the corner to show Tabitha the pipe. After barely tapping it with my foot it repeated the loud clanging sound and we determined that she must have made accidental contact while sitting down.

Others had gathered in this ward by now and the fatigue was starting to set in. My legs and back were aching from walking and standing on the hard floors, we were both hungry, and in need of a restroom break. With about thirty minutes remaining on this floor to investigate we made our way back to the center main building to ask the guides if there were any places open this late where we could get a bite to eat on the way to the hotel. Only one of the guides present, Pam, was a local and told us about a place coincidently located across from the hotel. We talked with her for a short while and expressed the desire to use the restroom before we left the building. She asked if we wanted to go then since she needed to fetch the young woman who had the asthma attack from the assembly area anyway. We agreed, and off we went to the assembly area.

Walking With Ghosts

Pam talked with us the whole way, about a 10 minute walk, back to the reception area where the inside bathrooms were located. She was a full-time employee of the Asylum, and relayed some interesting facts about the property, ghost tours, and previous TAPS visits; all of which is lost to me now. After we used the restroom, spoke with some other guides, and the deputy/ paramedic on site this evening, we continued on the assembly area. Once there Pam informed us we had a few minutes before we needed to meet back up with the group so I grabbed a couple waters for me and Tabitha and took the occasion sit down for a while.

Besides us, Pam, and the other four members of our group seated several tables away there were two more Trans-Allegheny guides seated at different tables. They were the two young ladies who stood by the door as we passed them on the second floor. After we had sat there for a few minutes the younger one spoke up recognizing us as the couple they had waived to as we passed them on the second floor. We confirmed that it was us, and introduced ourselves. That’s when she asked who the third person was walking with us in Ward B after we had come back from Ward E. I wasn’t certain I had understood the question, so asked her what she meant. She said, that when we came through the door on the way back from Ward E, her and the other guide could see a third person walking with us in the shadows, but as we got closer to the light they didn’t see them anymore. After we passed them and moved on to investigate at the other end of the building they continued to watch, assuming this person had ducked into a room, but no one else ever emerged from the shadows.

I am certain we were the only ones in Ward E at that time, and as far as I know the only people on that end of the building. It’s possible the guides could have fabricated a tale to add some excitement to the night, but I really don’t think so. First of all, if that was their intention then why didn’t they stop us as we passed to ask that question? It’s because, at the time they didn’t know we were alone, and fully expected to see someone else come out of the shadows … eventually. Secondly, it was purely by chance that we ran into them again. If we hadn’t detoured off the fourth floor to use the restroom we would have continued on to the medical building without ever going to the assembly area the rest of the evening, thus never knowing about the ghost who walked with us….

The Last Building

The medical building was a separate structure on the far west side of the property and behind the main facility. It had not only served as the Asylum’s hospital, but was also the hospital for the town of Weston for a number of years. This was the first time it had been made available for investigations, and it really wasn’t ready. It was small by comparison to the Asylum; smaller even than any single ward of the main facility we had been in this evening. Only the first floor had been cleared out for tonight, so there wasn’t much area available to roam. The main hall of the building was very brightly lit because the power feed was directly from the clock tower and unable to be shut off.

We arrived there several minutes ahead of the rest of our group who were still on the fourth floor and went on in. Pam gave us a brief run down of the buildings history and then went outside to sit on the steps in front of the building. The only two rooms of interest were the morgue, and a darkroom for reading x-rays. Otherwise, since the place had never been investigated by anyone, there were no paranormal claims to speak of. We wandered about for a few minutes until the rest of the group showed up with Zach leading the way.

With 19 people moving about the place this building quickly became very crowded. Tabitha and I decided we had our fill of paranormal investigation for the evening and headed outside to sit on the steps with Pam and another guide who had shown up. We chatted for a bit until Pam talked us into doing a flashlight test on the steps. She set up the light and tasked us with asking the questions. We played along for several minutes asking questions but without any responses. We somehow got onto another subject abandoning the test all together during which time Ozzy Osborne’s name was mentioned; and the flashlight came on. I chalked this up to coincidence, but Pam continued on a line of questioning that was Ozzy related, but to no avail….

Our evening ended shortly after that. Apparently the rest of the group was even less impressed with the medical building, or similarly as tired. Either way we were led back to the reception area, and from there made our way to the parking lot, and then the hotel.

My Mysterious Journey…

My interest in all things mysterious began my freshman year in the library of Lexington High School when I discovered a series of books titled “Monsters and Mythical Beasts”. I was fascinated by these thirteen books that covered everything from dinosaur sightings in Africa, to Bigfoot, ghosts, aliens, woolly mammoths, the Loch Ness Monster, and much, much more. Throughout my high school career I must have read that series dozens of times; the whole while thinking and planning ways to seek out these creatures and prove their existence.

Today this concept exists in the form of Destination Truth, Ghost Hunters, Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files and a host of other series. Only, instead of it being me proving these creatures that fueled my imagination as a youth really do walk this Earth, it’s Josh Gates, Jason Hawes, Grant Wilson, Ben Hansen, and others out in the field, doing the leg work, and pursuing my dream. I’m content to live vicariously through these shows; these people; knowing first and foremost this was my idea. Knowing I dreamt of these adventures, played them out in my mind many times over, and designed the traps and tricks to draw these creatures from obscurity and myth … into reality.

The End…

Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, Part 3...

About the Third Floor....

The third and second floor layout was virtually the same with the only real difference being the living quarters on the south side of the center main building were designated for the nurses and unavailable to us this night. The center main area was brightly lit this evening, and had several couches and chairs scattered about the area. Light from this area spilled into, and illuminated about a third of the way down the Ward C corridor, just east of the center main, and where we entered the third floor. Whereas on the second floor the center main opened directly into the west and east wings, on the third floor there was a door that you had to pass through to enter the west wings. Presumably this was to protect the patients on the west side, mostly geriatrics, from the patients on the east side, which housed the violent female, and male wards.

Violent History....

The most notorious room on this floor was the Bed Post Murder Room in the furthest east ward, Ward F, the Violent Males Ward. This had been the site of a grisly murder during the institution's history, and was noted to have a lot of paranormal activity. The story relayed to us was that two patients who had become angry with another, mute patient, sneaked into his room while he was asleep, and beat him severely with the bed posts from his bed. Then, not completely satisfied, laid the bed frame across his head and proceeded to jump up and down on the frame until his skull was crushed; after which they ran to the nurses station to report the murder claiming they had witnessed a ghost kill the patient.

Hunting With Amy....

Upon entering the third floor, Ward C (east of the main building), we were almost immediately greeted by an enthusiastic Amy Bruni. This floor had been a hot bed of paranormal activity so far this evening and Amy was eager to tell us all about it. Amy stated she herself had been touched three times in the isolation wards which were Ward C, the violent females ward, and Ward F (the furthest east ward), the violent males ward. The previous groups had also had a lot of success conducting flashlight tests in the Geriatric Ward, Ward Six (the furthest west ward). Which was where she was testing a new toy TAPS would be using this season on Ghost Hunters, the laser grid.

After a brief run down of the history and layout of this floor Amy invited anyone who wanted to join her to come to the Geriatric Ward for a 10 or 15 minute EVP session, and flashlight test she would be conducting. As we followed along I noticed our entire group was with Amy. I suggested to Tabitha we should stay back and head to the Bed Post Murder Room to investigate alone.

Seemingly a good idea at the time we changed direction and headed down toward the end of the corridor alone. The tiny amount of light that filtered in from the center main building quickly faded to a pitch black in front of us as the end of the hall drew closer. About halfway down the corridor the last person passed through the door to the west wing with Amy, and the door slammed shut behind them with a resounding thud that reverberated through the corridor. As the sound of the slamming door was absorbed by the darkness an eerie silence fell into step around us. Now, with flashlight in hand to guide our way, the dim red glow slowly crawled up on the windowless steel door to Ward F. I reached out to pull the bulky door back and reveal the ante room between Ward C and Ward F. Then, casting the light into the room, Tabitha stepped through the doorway. Suddenly and immediately she was overcome by an intense penetrating feeling of unease. Spinning on her heels she quickly reversed direction out of the room exclaiming "I'm not going in there", and almost knocking me down in the process. Tabitha stood shuddering behind me as I released the door handle and let it slam shut. We decided it best to rejoin Amy and the group to observe the flashlight test.

A Flashlight Test Observed....

By the time we entered the Geriatric Ward the flashlight test and EVP session were well underway. Amy had asked to borrow three flashlights from the group explaining she liked to use multiple lights to reduce the likelihood of random or coincidental responses by directing the spirits to turn on, or off specific lights. The lights were then arranged a couple feet apart in a line from right to left across the hall. Once everything was in place Amy would ask a question and direct the spirits to answer yes, or no by activating a specific light. During the test Amy stated she had been conducting this same test throughout the evening with other groups and had been getting pretty good results overall. But she admitted the level of interaction had declined with each session. This being the third time this evening what we observed was a mix of what seemed like intelligent interaction, and random occurrences. It's hard to believe what I witnessed was completely coincidental. Lights just turning on and off by themselves, considering how they're set up, is certainly possible, but with the level of consistency that this occurred immediately following a direct request toward a specific flashlight makes it hard to believe it's entirely coincidental.

As the flashlight test ended, and the group disbanded, most of them headed toward Ward F. Tabitha and I followed suit stopping along the way in Ward Three, and Ward C to do a couple EVP sessions, but to no avail. With only about 20 minutes left to investigate this level we set our sights on Ward F.

Braving Ward F....

I'm not certain you can call it "braving" when you come in behind a large group who have already entered the area ... But let's run with that.

By this time several groups had entered Ward F and fanned out into different areas. As Tabitha and I entered through the ante room there was Zach in the midst of one of his war stories; a group of young women huddled around him. I heard him telling how he'd provoked a ghost in this area during a flashlight test once, and had the flashlight flung across the floor. "This being the violent men's ward", he admonished, "you don't want to do that unless you know what you're doing". He even told them a young girl had been pinned against the wall by a ghost during a Halloween tour this past year, and to be careful.

Not feeling the uneasiness from earlier we made our way to the end of the corridor. The Bed Post Murder Room was to our right, but was already occupied. In the center of the corridor was another room with a door, so we decided to do an EVP session in there. Not having really experienced anything that we knew of, since the first floor other than feeling uneasy earlier I decided to get a little playful with the EVP questioning. After all, being someone who is sometimes not comfortable alone in the dark, I can feel uneasy getting up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.

Seriously, the waiver we signed warned against "provoking" the spirits, and if discovered doing so you could be asked to leave. While I wasn't willing to challenge a violent criminally insane spirit to a wrestling match, I was willing to ask some playful, or off beat questions. It wouldn't be until days after I got home, and analyzed the EVP recordings, that I'd find out I got an answer to one of those questions.

We didn't spend that much time in this room, but it was long enough for Ward F to have essentially cleared out leaving us once again ... alone in the dark. Of course that wasn't immediately apparent to us.

As we ended the EVP session, stopped recording, turned off the camera and headed out the room door I felt a pronounced tug on my right shirt sleeve. The tug had come from about a quarter ways around the front of my arm and just below the shoulder. Not the side. But just to make sure I stopped and shined the light on the door, and doorway looking for anything that might have snagged my shirt. Then turned the light on my shirt to see if there was a snag or a pull; nothing. Then we heard the door at the end of the corridor shut.

Looking down that long dark hallway there was no light emanating from any of the rooms; no sounds of EVP sessions; and no people. Realizing, ahead of Tabitha, that we were alone with roughly a football field between us and the door, I continued the conversation about the tug on my shirt, while switching my flashlight from the unintrusive dim glow of a single red LED, to the brilliant white light of six Light Emitting Diodes and flooded the hall. About the midway point of Ward F the conversation stopped, and the pace quickened....

Exiting Ward F was a relief. It definitely evoked a creepy feeling in both of us to be in, or near that ward alone.

Something Else in the Darkness....

With only a few minutes left I was psyched to try the flashlight test ourselves in the Geriatric Ward. After witnessing what we had earlier I felt certain we were in for a successful flashlight session. But we had to hurry to get to the complete opposite end of the building.

As we made our way toward the lighted center main building I kept catching glimpses of something dark darting about my head on one side, then the other. My first thought was it's too large to be an insect, and certainly too small to be something paranormal. And there seemed to be more than one. Either we had discovered the worlds smallest shadow figures, or something else was afoot in the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum this night. When we finally made it closer to the light it was then I was able to make out what it was..., bats. They had mentioned this to us earlier on the first floor that there were bats in the building, but until now I hadn't noticed them. I think I would have rather them been tiny flying shadow figures; at least shadow figures don't poop on you. And if they do, ghost poop is probably not a health hazard.

Did That Ball Just Move...?

That was the question Tabitha posed to me as we settled in for the flashlight test, and EVP session in a large open area of the Geriatric Ward. As we set up the equipment, and watched the rubber ball on the floor, it appeared to rock slightly a couple more times. Figuring we would try to catch this I set the camcorder up and trained it on the ball. Because there wasn't enough light I switched the flashlight back to red and laid it beside the camcorder and illuminated the ball, and started an EVP session.

We spent several minutes with the camcorder recording the ball, and the digital recorder running while we asked if anyone could move the ball. After a couple minutes Amy came in with one of the Trans-Allegheny guides and checked the windows to see if they were open, or broken. We could find no explanation for the movement we had witnessed prior to setting up the equipment, but upon analyzing the data found no evidence of it moving while the equipment was recording either.

It was now after 12:00am, to late for the flashlight test, so we had to shut everything down and head to the fourth floor.

Third Floor Evidence....

We had high hopes because of all the purported activity on the third floor, and our own personal experiences, that just maybe we had caught something really interesting. I was very disappointed the video of the ball didn't show any movement, nor did the accompanying recordings pick up anything unusual. After the first run through of everything we collected it seemed we had nothing to show for what we experienced. It wasn't until I put on the headphones and went back through the EVP session in Ward F, and the room where I felt the tug, that I discovered a response to one of my somewhat "provoking" questions.

It was during the flashlight test that I asked the question "if you would like for me to jump off the third floor", then paused, "turn on the light". The light never came on, but when I listened to the recording … during the pause … you can clearly hear the response; "yes".

The Final Floor....

Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, Part 2...

First Floor Evidence Updated...

Before I take you to the second floor I want to recap my first floor evidential findings. In reviewing the video footage I was pleased to find I had captured Tabitha's reaction to the piece of tile hitting her in the leg, not only visually, but audibly as well. Although you cannot see the piece being thrown you can clearly see her reaction to being struck, and hear the piece hit the floor. Also, it is apparent there is no one else in the immediate area.

Where the audio recordings are concerned, and as I stated previously, we conducted four EVP sessions on the first floor. The first three sessions didn't pick up anything out of the ordinary, but the fourth one, in the little girl Lilly's room, had three distinct childlike sounding responses directly following a statement, or question. After listening to each of them a multitude of times I was not able to determine what the first one was saying, if anything, and have since decided not to post it. I was able to come up with an idea as to what I think the second one is saying, and although it's very creepy sounding, I'm not convinced it is a an EVP.

The third one is a much different story. To me, and I'm no expert by any means, by comparison to other EVP recordings I've heard elsewhere it is the quintessential example of an EVP. Unfortunately, being unable to post audio files by themselves to Facebook meant the only way I could post these recordings was in a video capture of me playing them on my computer. I think this diminishes the effect of actually hearing the audio by itself. But if you're interested the video of Tabitha, and the two EVP recordings are posted on my profile page.

Our Celebrity Guide.

We entered the second floor by passing through a steel door about halfway down the corridor of Ward One, and ascending up the stairs within. The stairwell was a brightly lit, but narrow winding stone passageway that consisted of three short flights of stairs, each with it's own landing, that changed directions twice before reaching the entrance to the second floor.

Once our group had assembled in the hall of Ward Two our Trans-Allegheny guide, Zach, promptly apologized that he would be our celebrity on this floor. He struck me as someone who outside this environment would be completely socially inept, but thrived on the attention his role as guide garnered him during these events.

Later as we walked the halls we'd see him huddled up with some of the younger people, mostly late teen to early twenties women, telling his war stories about ghostly encounters; they seemed to hang on his every word.

Understanding the Second Floor.

For the second floor, as well as the third and fourth, we not only had both the east and west wings available to us, but the center main building as well. This greatly increased the amount of space available to investigate which allowed the groups to fan out more and isolate themselves a lot easier. Where the east and west wings joined the main building a wide open area was created. On each side of this area was a grand wooden staircase that ascended from the first floor to the fourth. During the time the Asylum was in operation these staircases were the main access to the upper floors. Unfortunately their condition was unacceptable for large groups to use so they were off limits to us for the evening.

The south side of the main building was the front of the building, and on the second floor this was the Doctor's Apartments. This area was also available to us, and had a small balcony at the end of the center hall.

Some of the high points of paranormal activity on this floor was the Double Suicide Room. It was almost directly across from where we entered, and at some point during the history of this institution two teenage boys, for unknown reasons, had hung themselves in there at the same time. Just across the hall from there was the Stabbing Bathroom where another teenage boy had stabbed to death a boy who had made advances toward him. And Ward Five, the furthest west ward, housed the Children's Ward where there was reported to be a lot of playful paranormal activity.

Walking with ghosts?

Armed with this information most of the groups quickly scattered and headed for one of the highlighted rooms. Tabitha and I decided to separate ourselves from the group and start our investigation in the Doctor's Apartments. We did an EVP session in one of the rooms, and briefly made our way through a couple of the apartments without encountering anything. After stepping out onto the balcony to take in the cool night air for a few minutes we decided to head to the furthest east wing and see what we could find there.

As we made our way into Ward B, the first east wing ward, we saw two of the Trans-Allegheny Guides standing by the entrance to the stairwell. They waived as we passed, we waived back, and continued on. When we got to the end of the corridor we were uncertain which door would lead us to Ward E, the eastern most ward. So we doubled back and asked one of the two guides we passed to help us. The younger of the two women gladly walked us down to the end of the hall and to the door. We opened it up and headed into the darkness.

It's important to note that these guides being stationed where they were really didn't seem significant at the time. As it turned out that door was where we would eventually gather as a group to head to the third floor. What is important here is that Tabitha and I, were at this point, the only people who had ventured down to Ward E. And to be truthful we didn't stay very long. We walked about halfway down that dark corridor before realizing there wasn't another group, person, or anyone near us. Feeling a bit uneasy about being in that area alone we headed back out of Ward E, through Ward B passing the guides once again, and crossed back over into the west wings to investigate the Children's Ward.

By this time the Children's Ward had cleared out except for a group doing an EVP session in the hall. Many of the others were just now making their way into the Doctor's Apartments, and east wings we had just left.

Up until this point I had forgotten to employ one of the most common, and easiest of the paranormal tests you could perform; the flashlight test. Simply put, you take a flashlight, preferably one you twist the head to activate, and turn the head until just before it turns on. The theory is by doing this you make it so the spirit doesn't have to expend much energy to make the light come on. Once the flashlight is set you ask the spirits turn it on by touching it. If this happens then you do a series of requests to turn on, and off the light. If you get the desired result, then you can use the flashlight to communicate yes or no answers by turning the flash light on and off based on a response to a question.

Not having thought of this prior to the investigation I had brought with me a flashlight with a push button at the back. While the amount of energy needed to turn the light on to stay on was probably too great, it was very easy to make the light flash by touching the button. To make a long story short we performed the flashlight test several times throughout the second floor in conjunction with EVP recordings, but didn't get any results.

Feeling a little dejected at the apparent lack of activity on the second floor we met up with the rest of the groups as they gathered in the east wing by the Ward B stairwell door. By this point the two guides we had met earlier had moved on to another floor. After speaking with a few of the other groups it appeared overall the second floor hadn't revealed much, if any, activity to anyone ..., or had it?

Second Floor Evidence...

At first blush the second floor was disappointing to say the least. Having had no personal experiences that we knew of, and absolutely no results from the flashlight tests our hopes rested on the review of the video and audio we collected (Which, by the way, showed nothing).

It wasn't until later that evening when by happenstance we met back up with the two Trans-Allegheny guides who had been standing at the Ward B stairwell door (Remember), and discovered ... we had been walking with ghosts...!

On to the Third Floor.
